Are two midwives better than one?? | Tampa Bay Home Birth Midwifery
Historically in America midwives will attend births by themselves, with a student or apprentice midwife, or with a on-the-job trained birth assistant. These assistants may or may not be certified in CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation. They may carry additional credentials like being a Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Nursing Assistant but many do not.

Celebrating 3 years of love at the Community Roots Collective
Unlike a threenager we do NOT:
1. Require our food be crust-less
2. Refuse to get dressed and/or change multiple times a day
3. Say no to naps
Like a threenager we DO:
1. Make our own rules
2. Do what we want
3. Encourage earplugs in our presence
Come party with us, friends!
How My White Privilege Helped Me Have a Home Birth | Tampa Bay Home Birth Midwife
“As for me, a pregnant 30-something middle class white woman with the added benefit of being a Licensed Midwife and caring for hundreds of families over many years, well, I had the cards stacked 110% in my favor. While I was intimately aware of this intense privilege for years, even through miscarriages and a 2nd trimester loss, I was never more aware and outraged by it than when I was pregnant and postpartum with our 2nd full term baby.”
Social Justice Storytime
We believe in building community here at the Community Roots Collective and we believe that starts early. We want to raise compassionate and sensitive kids that have a strong sense of fairness and equality. We aim to tackle 'hard issues' square on in an age appropriate way. That is why we began our Social Justice Storytime- to have conversations with kids early on about being open and accepting of all kinds of people. Join us for our social justice storytime on the second Tuesday of the month at 10am.
Truth in Parenting | Parenting through mistakes
At some point, you just have to let go and let life happen. You can't plan for everything. You can't foresee when bad things will happen. But you have to come to peace with bad decisions and mess ups. Don't fear making the mistakes. Don't let the mom-guilt overtake you. And when you need to, forgive yourself. By your example, you are teaching your children to forgive themselves, too.
We're human. We're just doing our best. Sometimes less. And that's ok.
