BAREFOOT BIRTH BLOG
An Open Letter from a Citrus County Mom to her Midwife
"I'm very grateful that I encountered you in this life and I consider it an honor that I will one day tell Emmett his birth story and that story will include you."
Homebirth and Birth Centers: What's the Difference? {Tampa Bay Midwife}
Something that drives me completely batty though is when I hear families claim that they are having a birth center birth because they are "just not ready for a home birth." I want to take a moment to set the record straight for everyone. IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA- A BIRTH CENTER BIRTH IS ESSENTIALLY THE SAME AS A HOMEBIRTH.
4 minutes {Tampa Bay Birth Photographer}
As a birth photographer I am on call for births from about 38 weeks until baby is born. This means I have my phone with me 24/7 and drop everything when mom is in labor so I can be there to capture the birth and the fresh baby meeting his family.
Have a home birth, ya'll! {Tampa Bay Home Birth}
It is with great joy and excitement that we announce that Barefoot Birth is (FINALLY!!!) providing concierge home birth services and personalized prenatal care! We are looking forward to preserving REAL home birth midwifery right here Tampa Bay!
Summertime Bus Updates! {Tampa Bay Midwife}
Our Indiegogo campaign to raise funds for our Barefoot Bus has 24 more days and we are still not quite halfway to our goal. Though we are still very much in need of funds to get our Barefoot Bus supplied and ready to hit the road serving families in need this Fall, it hasn't stopped us from being hard at work at what we can.
We have been completely floored by what has come out of our (long awaited, painfully kept secret) announcement about the project. From people showing their support and excitement to the offers of help with the maintenance or day-to-day functioning of the bus. We have been so touched by generous donations, both monetary and of people's time. Some really amazing things have come out of the woodwork so far!
birth story: a giveaway!
We are so honored when our
families share their birth stories here in this blog space, and we are
honored to share another very important Birth Story with you that is
being told through film.
Like most birth workers, we love us some Ina May. For those of you who aren't familiar, she's known as the "mother of modern midwifery," a self-taught, straight-talking, gentle soul who isn't afraid to take on the establishment for the good of maternal health and better outcomes for birth.
