For World Breastfeeding Week 2014 | Tampa Bay CLCs
It's no secret that we're big supporters of Breastfeeding at Barefoot Birth. In fact, as of this World Breastfeeding Week, all of our members (save for the amazing Wes) are Certified Lactation Counselors (CLC). To say that our own experiences with breastfeeding, both as mothers and as service and care providers, have been life-shaping is an understatement.
Collectively we have nursed 7 of our own babies (and a few others!) through plugged ducts, tongue tie, mastitis, bad latches, cracked nipples, and more. We have tandem nursed, wet nursed, nursed in public, nursed while babywearing, and nursed twins. We have pumped, we have gone back to work. We have supplemented. We have nursed well into toddlerhood. We've been to La Leche League meetings as tired, confused mothers. We have been there mamas--so when you tell us what's going on with your breastfeeding relationship, chances are we know just what you mean and we are listening.
But we aren't just coming at you with our own stories and experiences. We've trained and educated ourselves over the years so that the information we share with you is evidence-based. Our support is non-judgemental. We respect the whole spectrum of breastfeeding and the unfolding of each family's journey as we learn more and more about it together. We recognize that no two mothers, babies, families are alike.
Whether you choose us for your homebirth midwifery care, prenatal care, doula support, placenta encapsulation, or birth and family photography, we are happy to answer any questions about and give gentle guidance on breastfeeding as needed. It's not just a service, it's who we are, and we sort of can't help but help.
This World Breastfeeding Week, we are celebrating all mothers who have nourished with Breastmilk--whether for one day, one week, one month, one year or more! Whether straight from the tap, pumping, supplementing, using donor milk, or wet nursing! Breastfeeding improves the health of the whole community so we say THANK YOU!
